Well, since I didn't officially get to wish everyone a New Year's, I suppose that I will do that! I can't believe that 2012 is gone. So much happened, it is pretty strange. I imagine that after 2 weeks of vacation it will be nice to have school starting again (At least for the boys), and then hopefully everything will be back to normal. School starts again today here as well, and we are hoping that people will be a lot more open than they have in the past couple of weeks. People take Christmas and New Years much more serious here, so I think that's probably why it's been tough as of late, but we have still been working hard, and things have been going much better with the ward too. Remember our Meal Calender? We already have 13 eating appointments set up for this month. Do you know how amazing that is?! The ward here is so awesome. We have people come and ask us to come on Joint Teaches. Life is good.
So on Monday, we spent the day with J and his roommate H and then the Heilbronn Elders. We played some games, and then they showed us a short film called 'Dinner for One', it's German Tradition (President Miles said it was allowed, don't worry, we weren't breaking the rules. We are obedient. It's actually in English so you could find it on Youtube and watch it. In all honesty, it's not funny at all. But Germans love it. German humour, I suppose? We also ate a lot of food. We had Raclette and Fondue. Delicious. But you want to explode after!
Luckily, because I love Raclette so much, we had it again on New Years Day with a member family. It was really good. The wife was Swiss too, so it was legit Raclette. We played games with them and had a lot of fun.
On Wednesday we had District Meeting and then I went on exchange with Elder B. He's 2 transfers older than me, which means that he is old. Because I am now officially old on my mission (You turn old when the Sisters in your MTC group go home, and all of them went home this past week). It was a lot of fun. We went finding and then we had an eating appointment with members in the Heilbronn ward. Which was fun, and they gave me a Christmas Present! It's a game called 'Ligretto' which is a really fun game. It's basically just Nertz, but with special cards and it only goes to 10 instead of 14. It also has the different decks so it looks prettier than our Rook cards with the 'X' on them. I will bring that home for sure, but I will keep it for me. Elder H and I have also played quite a bit, but he is really bad. The worst score we had after one round is I got 30 points, and he had 2.
On Thursday we had another appointment with N. It was tough because his family back in Cameroon is not doing so great, and he can't really do anything to help them. His mom is really sick and they think that she might pass away, and so he hasn't really had time to keep commitments, but that is fine. We just went there and spent time with him because he doesn't really have any other friends here, but that is what we needed to do. We are focusing a lot more on how we need to love more as a mission; love our investigators, the members, our companions, and everyone we meet on the street because that is the only way we will see success.
On Friday we met with Frau C (yes, she is Italian) who is a lady who the Sisters found, about a month ago who we have been trying to get a hold of. We finally got to meet with her and had a member with us. We just talked for a while and got to know her and her expectations and she seems like she has a lot of potential. Which is awesome!
On Saturday we went and had Chinese Food with J and then spent the day talking to people on the street. We had a lady stand us up. Which always stinks. And only seems to happen when we have a member lined up and ready to be there. But it was a pretty good day.
I should probably head out now! I love you guys a lot! Good luck with everything this week.
